If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the past decade, it’s this: time flies when you’re designing, strategizing, over-caffeinating, and occasionally wondering if a career in goat herding might have been simpler. Yes, Workshop has officially hit the big 1-0, and somehow, we still have our sanity (mostly).
Once upon a time, 2014 to be exact, we were just a couple of ambitious creatives crammed into a small space, armed with big ideas and zero clue what we were getting into. Did we think we’d grow into a full-fledged agency, working with some of the biggest brands, launching viral campaigns, and developing an actual name in the industry? We hoped. But realistically? We were just trying to make it to Friday without our computers catching fire, or fighting for a parking spot at 9AM. (We’ve got dedicated parking spots now!)
But somehow, amidst the brainstorming sessions, the insane deadlines, and the nights we swore we’d “log off early,” we built something real. Clients came. Projects got bigger. And suddenly, our tiny workshop became the Workshop. Over the years, we’ve done some pretty cool things. We’ve turned dull branding into something people actually care about. We’ve designed billboards that stopped people in their tracks (hopefully not mid-crosswalk, but a slow drive would be a success in our books). We’ve worked on some incredible campaigns, developed viral social content, and created projects that made people feel something. Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. We’ve had our fair share of last-minute panic attacks, late-night existential crises over colour choices, and that one time a whole campaign had to be scrapped because of a mild misunderstanding involving the client’s fontpreferences. (We don’t talk about that.)
Through it all, one thing has remained constant: the fun. We’ve built a team that’s equal parts brilliant and ridiculous. We roast each other daily, keep a very serious internal ranking of who eats the most snacks, and – because we’re marketing people – turned our own agency shenanigans into TikTok content. (Yes, we’re those kind of people.)
Like any 10-year-old, we’ve grown. We’ve evolved. We’ve learned what works, what doesn’t, and which espresso brand keeps us functioning. We could get all emotional and say something deep here, but let’s be real – this celebration is just a warm up to our 20 years, our 30, our 100 (we’ll have renamed earth to The Workshop Planet by then). This is just a pause to acknowledge the ride so far, to laugh at the chaos, and to gear up for what’s next.
So, cheers to ten years of ideas, deadlines, occasional near-breakdowns, and work we’re insanely proud of. And cheers to whatever madness comes next. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
